A first-time mum’s story, meet Lisa

“My family noticed the change in me…”

From 14 weeks pregnant, Lisa joined my classes as a first-time mum.

What followed was a journey of growing confidence, fewer aches and pains, and a much more positive mindset around birth and motherhood.

Read her story on this blog!

‘Attending Yoga with Maryline changed me for the better!

I was 14 weeks pregnant when I joined Maryline’s class in Northwich at Mind Body Balance Studio,

I had just been made redundant, my confidence was pretty low.

Maryline kindly offered me a concession rate to fit with my unemployed situation. I decided to embrace all the practices shared in class, I got into the breathing techniques, I attended as many weeks as I could, right until the end of term.

My family noticed the change in me, seeing my confidence improve, and how positive I started to be about birth and motherhood.

Pregnancy Yoga also supported my lower back pain throughout. My symptoms got milder, my sleep improved and I also was connecting to lovely mums-to-be both in Northwich & Knutsford, as I switched classes to suit my timetable.

Maryline organises regular special events. I tried the Aerial Relaxation class, which was really special. The pregnancy Sound Bath was another great memory of my pregnancy, and my last class was an Active Birth class, to prepare for the birth of my son.

I am ever so grateful for this experience of weekly classes and weekend events. They really improved my physical & mental health.

I went on to have the natural birth I wanted navigating the end of pregnancy without the anxiety I had expected. Me and my fiance watched Maryline’s active birth prep video, I used all of her tools during labour and welcomed a beautiful boy into the world, in hospital, at 38 weeks + 5 days.

If you are newly pregnant and local to Maryline’s classes, I’d recommend signing up and making yoga a priority in the week. I couldn’t have done without it, the benefits were so many. I can’t even say I was much of a yoga person before, but now I’m convinced of the benefits.

Thank you for sharing tips and comfort when I needed them most Maryline, I’m looking forward to seeing how my son enjoys yoga too in a few weeks.’ This feedback was received in October 2025

Fast forward to September 2026, a year later…

Lisa has attended mum & baby yoga in Knutsford consistently, joining when baby R. was about 3 months old. And… her little boy is turning one in September 🎂 time has truly flown by!

Baby R. is now part of the new Baby Yoga class for active babies (crawling or trying to) on Wednesday in Davenham (CW9 6JB).

Lisa took part in all the special events: last year’s summer picnic & outdoor photoshoot when pregnant (photos by Carol at https://www.instagram.com/truelight_photography?igsi=ZWg1eHhnc3VneWt0. @_truelightphotography)

Lisa was there for the Baby Yoga Christmas party in Knutsford and this year’s picnic (pictured 😍) ! I also organised a soundbath for the babies and baby R took part!!

Lisa finished class with some wonderful memories of her maternity leave and if you’re expecting now reading this, this could be YOU.

Mum and baby will be finishing yoga soon as R. is ready for a new activity. Babies outgrow the baby yoga practice typically around 10-12 months old.

It’s been wonderful to see Lisa evolve into a mum who was ready to birth confidently. And later into a caring and loving mama 🥰 Supporting someone at a challenging time of their life, especially following a redundancy, is extra rewarding.

The pregnancy and postpartum period is hardly ever easy these days - mums face hardship with symptoms, or face challenges in their work or personal life.

Alongside teaching the yoga strengthening techniques & postures, my job is also to provide a steady & calm environment in class. A comfortable set up that supports both the physical and mental health, which mums will look forward to each week.

Until the next pregnancy perhaps Lisa ❤️

If you are expecting and looking to join a friendly group, pick between the Knutsford, Northwich or Manchester locations.

You’re just a few steps away from enjoying everything the classes have to offer (like Lisa did!), and it was much more than just Yoga!
